Biogas Compressors

The German company VPT designs and supplies biogas compressor skid packages. Biogas is produced at low pressure, typically below 3 kPa. When the CO2 is removed, the remaining gas is 95% methane, which is called biomethane. Biomethane is similar to natural gas and is injected into natural gas pipelines in Germany. To be able to inject the biomethane into the pipeline, the gas pressure must be increased substantially, typically to 3000 kPa.
